HISTORY OF THE SURVEY
Developed in 2000 by CBE, the survey has been implemented in over 1,000 building around the world, with over 100,000 responses. Originally developed as a research tool, the survey has become widely used as a way to receive feedback from employees.
For over 15 years, the survey has been a core area of research at CBE. We understand the value and importance of focusing on the human element of buildings, and believe that this research is essential to shifting energy consumption.
THE CENTER FOR THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT
The Center for the Built Environment (CBE) is a collaborative research unit at the University of California, Berkeley. Founded in 1997, CBE’s mission is to improve the environmental quality and energy efficiency of buildings by providing timely, unbiased information on building technologies, design, and operation techniques. The CBE research portfolio is guided by their Industry Advisory Board, and represents the diversity of the building industry (manufacturers, building owners, facility managers, contractors, architects, engineers, government agencies, and utilities).
"The CBE survey tool is a low-cost resource that can be administered quickly, and such empirical evidence from a reliable third party such as the University of California, Berkeley, provides a high level of credibility."
