Patrick Wendler is an MS student in Building Science, Technology and Sustainability at UC Berkeley. He previously obtained his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Lehigh University in 2016 and worked in construction management and energy engineering in New York City from 2017-2021. Patrick left New York just as a law was about to take effect that will require buildings to drastically reduce their carbon emissions by 2030 — a task that will require an unprecedented retro-fit of the city’s overwhelmingly natural gas-reliant heating systems. He intends to spend his time at UC Berkeley to study ways in which such a drastic reduction in natural gas usage can take place.
