Visiting Scholar, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University
Shikang Wen is a PhD candidate at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His research focuses on the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to energy-efficient building design. He received his Bachelor of Architecture from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2023.
Shikang’s previous research has covered several areas in building performance and sustainable design. He has worked on daylight optimization using multi-objective genetic algorithms, real-time glare detection through deep learning-based method, techno-economic analysis of campus building retrofit strategies for carbon reduction, and advanced radiant ceiling cooling systems. His recent research includes AI-assisted energy-efficient building design.
He has published research in journals including Automation in Construction, Building and Environment, Energy and Buildings, and Journal of Building Engineering. Through his work, he aims to develop data-driven and AI-assisted design methods that support low-carbon, energy-efficient, and comfortable built environments.
