Sizhong Qin is a PhD student in Civil Engineering at Tsinghua University. His research focuses on the intelligent design of buildings, integrating architectural and structural considerations through advanced artificial intelligence methods, including graph learning, large language models, and structural optimization. His doctoral work seeks to establish a unified framework that bridges architectural intent with structural principles, enabling AI-assisted design generation that is both engineering-informed and practically reliable. This approach emphasizes constraint-aware and reasoning-driven methodologies to ensure feasible, standards-compliant solutions for complex structural design challenges. He has experience developing deep learning models for structural optimization, applying generative AI in design automation, and advancing interdisciplinary approaches that connects civil engineering with computer science. In August 2025, he joined CBE as a Visiting Scholar, working with Ramon Weber to further research on architectural-structural intelligent design and its applications in building science.
