Will is pursuing a PhD in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at UC Berkeley. He previously received a BA in Earth Science from Vassar College in 2022, where he became interested in climate change science. His background includes empirical environmental research and applied experience in industrial hygiene. As a NOAA Hollings Scholar, he conducted research on carbon storage potential in Alaskan peatlands. Now a member of the Potts research group, his work has shifted to focus on greenhouse gas mitigation across built and natural environments by assessing the relative potential, impact, and cost of decarbonization strategies.

Will is working with CBE on the Cost-Effectiveness and Mitigation Potential of Low-Carbon Building Material Alternatives under Matt Roberts. In this role, he is contributing to the development of marginal abatement cost curves to identify opportunities for decarbonization of building materials used in California.
