Yunzhu Ji is a visiting PhD student at the Center for Built Environment (CBE). Her research interests include architectural generative design, digital construction, performance-based design, and related tool development.
Yunzhu comes from the School of Architecture, Southeast University, China. After graduating in software engineering with her undergraduate degree, she worked on architectural generative design and parametric design during her master’s and PhD studies. Her PhD thesis is about early-stage building design optimization combined with generative design and building performance study, including: (1) generative strategies to optimize the building form and façade systems; (2) cross-platform performance simulation operation; and (3) comprehensive workflow containing “simulation- analysis- optimization.” A software is developed as an outcome of the research also with an invention patent. This research is funded by the China National Science Foundation and the China National Key R&D Program.
