MS Student in Building Science, Technology and Sustainability
Angela Kou is pursuing her MS in Building Science, Technology, and Sustainability at UC Berkeley. She received a BA in Sustainable Environmental Design and a BS in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley in 2024. Angela began her research journey with CBE as an undergraduate student, contributing to research related to wildfire resilience using smart thermostats. Under the mentorship of Matt Roberts at CBE, she completed her undergraduate thesis, which examined the embodied water impacts within landscape architecture strategies. Her primary research interests include life cycle assessments, embodied impacts, and outdoor thermal comfort.
Angela previously interned at David Baker Architects and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. In these roles she gained valuable professional experience in the architectural design and research fields, assessing building systems, sustainability metrics and embodied energy impacts.
