We welcome companies and organizations to become part of our community by joining CBE’s industry consortium. Membership confers significant benefits, and joining is a simple process that we describe below.
Membership Agreements and Levels
Membership in the CBE consortium is obtained by signing a participation agreement with the university. This agreement describes the details of CBE membership, including member benefits, confidentiality, and intellectual property terms.
Here we provide a table of membership levels, benefits and fees (PDF).
Special cost sharing arrangements with UC Berkeley allow CBE to reduce overhead and administrative costs to maximize partner investment in our research projects. As a result, the sponsoring annual membership fee of $35,000 provide partners with access to a research portfolio with annual funding over $1 million.
The center staff and industry partners agree that the participation of leading architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) firms is important to the Center’s success. Because research investment in these types of companies is generally modest, CBE allows individual A/E/C firms to join with a $12,000 annual membership.
Small Business Memberships
CBE staff and faculty worked with industry member leadership in fall 2009 to create membership tiers for small businesses, acknowledging the financial constraints of small firms and startups. The table of membership levels, benefits, and fees explains the details.
