Haiyan Yan is a professor at the School of Architectural & Artistic Design, Henan Polytechnic University, where she has been a faculty member since 2005. She earned her PhD in Building Technology Science from Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology in 2013, specializing in human adaptive thermal comfort. From 2014 to 2017, she participated in the Urban and Rural Planning Postdoctoral Program at the same institution.

Dr. Yan’s research focuses on human thermal adaptation, energy-efficient building environments, and sustainable design, particularly in the context of split air conditioning and intermittent convection cooling systems. Her research emphasizes the dynamic regulation of indoor thermal environments in intermittent convection cooling systems, aiming to reduce carbon emissions while maintaining occupant comfort. She explores the physiological and psychological responses to varying cooling intensities and durations, using experimental data to develop predictive models for human thermal sensation. By optimizing intelligent control strategies, her work seeks to enhance energy efficiency and improve the quality of indoor environments.
