Dr. Jiang Li joins CBE from Central South University in China, where he is an associate professor. He brings expertise in thermal comfort in outdoor landscape spaces, and during his time at Berkeley he plans to focus on adapting the Advanced Berkeley Comfort Model for outdoor environments. Jiang received his PhD in Environmental Science, and his doctoral dissertation focused on the mechanisms of landscape planting to maintain water quality in wetland parks. He also holds master’s and undergraduate degrees in architecture. Jiang led a team of graduate students to study thermal comfort in outdoor landscape spaces in a wetland park in Changsha, China. Changsha is in a hot summer and cold winter climate zone, and the team chose the two coldest and hottest months of the year. They monitored meteorological data such as temperature, humidity, wind speed and solar radiation. A large number of questionnaires were distributed synchronously to obtain people’s psychological thermal comfort feeling.
