Marya Kemp is an MS student in the Building Science, Technology, and Sustainability Program at UC Berkeley. She previously obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto in 2021. Marya’s research interests include improving occupant thermal comfort for low-income communities, reducing building energy consumption, and increasing the resiliency of the built environment to extreme temperatures associated with climate change.

Before joining the CBE, Marya worked as a mechanical consultant at Arup Toronto and Integral Group Vancouver for a combined 2.5 years. She has also performed research with the Building Energy and Indoor Environment Lab at the University of Toronto on ventilation strategies to improve indoor air quality in post-war buildings.
