Shaotsu is originally from Taiwan and is currently a PhD candidate at Tsinghua University, China. She holds a BA in Architecture from Southeast University, China, and an MArch from Tsinghua University. She has worked as a junior architect and research assistant at the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University Co., Ltd. (THAD) before starting her doctoral studies.

In September 2024 she joined CBE as a visiting student researcher. Her research focuses on data-driven decision-making approaches to minimize embodied carbon in early-stage architectural design. Under the supervision of Matt Roberts, she is conducting comparative industry surveys between China and the US, reviewing architectural design strategies for environmental impact reduction in early stages, and preparing to develop data-driven methods to support low embodied carbon design decisions.
