Yao Lu is an Associate Professor in School of Architecture at South China University of Technology. She received her PhD from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, under the supervision of Prof. Thomas Auer. Her primarily focuses on the theory of sustainable and healthy building design. Her research includes developing design strategies and multi-objective optimization methods for building spaces and facades, emphasizing indoor environmental quality, indoor comfort, energy consumption, and space utilization. Presently, her research is centered on the thermal comfort of young children and the comprehensive evaluation of indoor environments in kindergartens. This study aims to integrate theories of thermal comfort with principles from child cognitive psychology, child development, and child social interactions to develop research methodologies specifically applicable to young children. The primary objective is to determine the thermal comfort range for young children in hot and humid climates and to identify the key factors influencing their thermal sensations.
